| 7 Nov 2004 | Pablito | Loading...Actually, Lucifer doesn't mean "Morning Star." Lucifer means "Light Bringer" or "Light Bearer" in the same way that Christopher comes from the Latin for "Christ Bearer." (This was one of the lesser-known reasons Columbus set out to discover a route to the Orient. He believed he was destined to bring the gospel to the heathen Chinamen and Indians.)
And while Lucifer was associated with the Morning Star in Christian tradition, (I believe the Bible uses the term "Son of the Morning" in one place.) that star is not the sun but the planet Venus, which is a very bright planet and is often visible low on the eastern horizon in the hours just before dawn.
So I'm afraid that while there's no link between Satan and Ra, there IS a link between Satan and Aphrodite/Venus, the Greek/Roman goddess of love and lust. | |
