This is a favorite character of mine from the Magic Kingdom of Landover series, by Terry Brooks. Abernathy used to be a man, but he was transformed into a 'soft-coated Wheaten terrier' (?) by a bumbling wizard, who can't figure out how to change him back. His only remaining human traits are speech, intelligence, and fingers. He continues in his duties as Landover's royal scribe.

*My favorite book is Magic Kingdom for Sale... just so you people know. 12*
Good drawing (Claire wants more Landover art on Elfwood), about your description at the top though... wasn't Abernathy supposed to have toes as well? I would check the book, but I've lent it to a friend.

:-) Rachel Tamar Wohlstadter replies: "Hmmm.... I think he did. I'll have to check, if I ever illustrate him from head to toe..."

Abernathy! Awesome! He was my favorite character next to Willow. And yes, he was a soft coated Wheaten terrier. ^_~ This looks just like how I pictured Abernathy, too!

But each to his own.

Great series - about time he gave us some more from Landover.

I think you've just about nailed it with Abernathy. - particularly his expression...if dogs can have expressions?..well i know what i mean. I like your loose style too.

Been meaning to do a whole heap of illustration for Landover, but unfortunately have only got a sketch of the Black unicorn, due to lack of time.
Nice to see some other folk out there are interested.
Good stuff ^.^
