Atho Tepes the lord of Acorn Mires in November. The first snow is falling and the sun barely manages to struggle through. Sketch made with pencil and paper and then scanned. Colored in photoshop and landscape background added.

I like the chainmail, the weathering effects of the snow and cold, the sword, the belt is very good although I'd like to see more of a metallic look in the buckle to match the quality of the belt and from the knees up the picture is wonderful. If you don't mind my opinion, from the knees down, the quality of the legs and boots don't match the rest of the quality of this great picture. As for the pose, I like it and can visualize the motion you were going for.

Wow!! Brilliant picture, I love the armour and chain mail, so detailed. But the design on it does look like the white tree of Gondor so I agree with Wictoria Nordgård, Its reminds me of Boromir too, in fact, I thought it was him untill I read the description. Anyways, great picture.

:-) Magnus Tamelander replies: "Yes the armour is very influenced by Faramir's; His armour was very beutiful. "

Your colouring and lighting technique is great. It has a really cold atmosphere. Very good!

:-) Magnus Tamelander replies: "Thank you. I'm glad you think so."

verry moving scene.. love the nice soft colors.. only thing that I personally think is a bit of a shame, is that his face and his expression is a bit static... takes out lot of mood... other than that great picture.. I also love coloring pencil work digitally, gives a perfect mix between traditional media and digital media.

Wow. What struck me first about this picture was the colors. Beautiful coloring, Magnus. I like the sun glow coming through the clouds and the subtle greens in the grass. Very nice.

The chain mail I think is a bit... distracting. I don't think it follows with the style of the rest of the piece. Maybe if you just softened it a tiny bit, that would help.

But, who am I to say? Great work, again. Keep it up!

Best wishes,
Jon Mayer

17 Magnus Tamelander replies: "Thanks for the comment. I shall se what I can do. That chain is very special: a heirloom from the trolls under the mountain. I guess I tried to convey that when I made it. Perhaps I failed. "

Interesting work.
Could use a little more touches of hilights and shadows!

I really like this one. You certainly do have a talent for drawing handsome men.

Nice chain mail. Reminds me of a Gondor Knight(had a mind block, couldn’t remember the correct phrase to call those guys) in The Lord of the Rings 1
