Ukko the half-orge with halbered. Good humored fellow that likes soccer and humans. As the child of a raped farmer woman and a Ogre chief of the clan of Duh, he spent his childhood in the farmer village. As he matured, it became all too obvious to the village that he was not just a especially large and ugly kid. He fled, to the ogre clan of his father. He there got his training as s warrior, and filled with a feeling of shame and a craving for revenge, he killed and murdered for years and at the same time took his fathers place as chief. Inside him there was a battle between good and evil, but he saw no way to change his life for the better. A party of strong adventurers, led by the Priest Brian One-hand, sought out the clan of Duh to put an end to its harrasing of the Shire of Sjosala. After a ferocius battle, only Ukko was left standing. He then fell to his knees and begged for mercy in the human tounge, a behaviour that is not that common among ogres. Brian, being a kind soul, listened to Ukkos story and believed him. The village had done him wrong. Prejudice had made him evil and revengeful. Brian humbly asked if he could help him and offered him a job as Senechal of the castle of his, and first captain of the castle guards. Ukko, never had been asked to help anybody, fell in tears and later accepted the charge. He saved the castle and the countryside when he chopped the head of a marauding red dragon - thereby becoming a hero of some sort. Ukko is now luckily married to a very stout farmer woman named Beda, and father of four. He is a legend and a tourist attraction, and still lives in the Castle of Sjosala, which he was given for loyal services and honorable deeds. A pretty story...:) Sketch made with pencil and watercolor on paper and then scanned. Some modifications to color in photoshop.

I like that facial expression. *g* Tell me, is there any connection between his liking to humans ans soccer? The game needs a ball, after all... ;-)

Oh, I like his expression. No wonder he's good natured; his mum knitted him that nice scarf and made sure he put it on before going out in the cold. Makes me wonder what she looks like... *grin*

Great picture! Have you ever wondered about writing and illustrating books?

:-) Magnus Tamelander replies: "Oh yes I wonder every day. This is what I love to do. How do you become professional? Any advice would be appreciated. "
