The wife of Denethor II and mother of Boromir and Faramir, Finduilas lived in Gondor, far away from her homeland. She missed it very much and died young. Her story is one of the more heartrending as it seems she was never really happy in a foreign land with a strict and distant, although devoted husband. Here she is wishing for her husband to let her return, but in vain.

I know her cloak is supposed to be blue, but the painting needed something red and lively, so I decided that she had more than one cloak.

Finduilas is from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

*First Comment Curtsey* Fantastic work again--this should have gotten a Mod's Choice! This picture has such nice flow, from the hair to the butterflies to the sun, down into the landscape and back up the castle walls. Very beautiful.

Really pretty! I like the way you leave a lot of white space without making the picture look like a draft or not-yet-finished work. Really cool flow on the hair!
