Just a doodle, really, of Lyra Silvertongue from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials-trilogy, one of my all time favourites. I just love the way intelligence, experience and consciousness are described as little angelic particles, Dust or Shadows or Sraf... Every time, I've finished the last one (The Amber Spyglass), I just want to learn and LEARN! I am so definitely going to read John Milton: Paradise Lost.

Anyway; this is supposed to be Lyra when she's about twelve (couldn't fit Pantalaimon in, though. He'll return in another pic), and as I said, this is just a quick sketch, as I am actually much too busy to even look at a pencil.

Great portrait! I really like the watercolors... I cannot for the life of me use that stuff... bleeds everywhere. But you handled it wonderfully.

That's a lovely painting. I really like her expression, and the hair seems just right (I suck at hair). My only critisism is that she looks a little old for Lyra twelve. I think it's cos the jaw's slightly too heavy for a child and the eyeline should be very slightly lower (children always have a bigger area of forred between eyes and hairline). I can't wait to see your Pantalaimon.

Hello-I just love your picture of Lyra. I was searching for Lyra Silvertongue and I couldn't believe there were so few pictures from the books either. I also love the watercolor. You've definitely captured her well 2.

You know this could be a picture of Lyra after His Dark Materials takes place, like when she’s 15 in Lyra’s Oxford, or maybe when she’s around 16 or 17 for the upcoming Book of Dust. For all intents and purposes, this is a very good artistic interpretation of Lyra.
