I did this for a girl who won my first furry-art auction on Gaia. The character is (c) Bird Dragon. She didn't do much more than give me a vauge description of the looks so I went a little 'Dance of a Thousand Veils' - to bump up her beauty, and to tone down her cuteness.

Drawn and inked by hand, scanned at 300%, cleaned up in Paint, then tossed into Open Canvas. The first cell shading I did that went in a sucessful manner - and I managed this in six layers? It's a nice effect at anyrate. Fwee - fox chicken.

Well for this one I laid down the major sections of color - the blue for the wings, veil and clothing, the red for her body, the brown for the accents on her body and her hair, each on a seperate layer, then went around carefully with te eraser tool until thins were inthe right places. I had all my layers on multiply, of course. Then I turned them all off, and picked a warm grey, filling in the shadows on all but the wings, turning on layers back and forth to cheak and make sure things were looking right. Then on yet another layer,I did the feather shadows in the same grey - this took a DISGUSTINGLY LONG TIME to do.

Tips? Keep your tool sizes consistant throughout your art - and don't take "pretty good" results. Fight for the perfect mark. CRTL+Z is your friend. o.o;;;;;

Well, all your hard work did pay off. I got some good tips here, maybe one day I'll get the nerve to show my art.

At least when I'm one tenth of your skill. 2

An enjoyable piece. I like her confident yet playful personality.
I do think her body is twisted a liitle too much to be a natural or comfortable pose, though it is doable I imagine.
Nice job using layers. And yeah I agree ctrl-z is an artist’s friend. lol
