SciFi and Fantasy Art Light and dark by Mandy Elliott

In this pciture, it is the obvious contrast of light and dark. However, as usual there is a hidden meaning. If you look at this picture and cover one half of it (one of the woman) you will see the picture is no longer balanced. it seems unfinished right? It is the same in both directions. Well this is a depiction of good and evil. Without one the other isnt complete. it just doesnt work. Think about it.

Construction Notes: Origial picture was done in ink, but I wanted to do a larger peice (some 16" x 20") so I started with the black figure which I painted on white construction paper. I then traced it and flipped it over, cutting it out on white construction paper to past over the black construction paper on the other side. Framed with white and black presssboard wich was done in two peices.

I did cover up one side, and then the other, and you're right about what you said up top. This is a great piece. Keep it up! 27 Dec 2003	Emily X.	Loading... Wow. I like this peice the most. I actually covered up sone side. It's true! I love the message that you are trying to send. I had a peice of art like this once. But it was four pictures in a checker form. Hard to explain. I sold it at the art auction. It didn't net me a lot of money. Maybe $24? Mandy Elliott replies: "Hey, thanks. 12 Jan 2004	Brandy Remmy Elliott	Loading... Ok twin... i had to stop by this one. You could have streightend the picture and croped it better! I know you could. You should save it on your hard-drive and then bring it up in adobe for a little fixing. Streighten it and then crop it tighter. Perhaps even hit the B&W button so we can see the black and white contrast. Oh and use the brightness contrast button too! That will help make ythe black darker and the white whiter. Got all that? ::chuckles:: Cool idea! The Evil Twin Mandy Elliott replies: "blah blah blah..."

Wonderfully done and quite unique!!=) Mandy Elliott replies: "I soon hope to post a short story or at least the idea of it on elfwood about a battle between evil and evil. A demon spawn from Purgatori and a Demon from Hell. Of course there's more story behind it, but thats the basic."

26 Sep 2004	Anonymous	Loading... Actually good can & DID exist long before evil!!! Think about it. God created the Heavens & the earth before the Angels. Then Satan chose to disobey God, thus he alone created evil. Thats where he & evil comes from, & not from God!!! But since this isn't a debate class, and a fantasy site, I will just enjoy your wonderful inspirational master-pieces!!! Mandy Elliott replies: "I wont debate that, however its not balanced without the other. That was what i was saying with this peice, balance. I'm glad you like it though. "
8 Sep 2005	Jungle Beast	Loading... I seen works of art like this before. The shading is a very tricky thing to me, and I give you full credit for a pic like such. And I like the moral to it, because it is true of all humans to have the qualities of good and evil. I don't see any mistakes [and even if there are, I'm half-blind anyway]. I love the simplicity of it, yet the complexness of it! You have a God-given talent, so keep on drawing! Mandy Elliott replies: "You spoil me! I'm blushing, seriously!"
