a huge, fearsome dragon , bathed in bright light, hurtles toward a small group of scurrying wayfarers. inspired by the back door scene in the hobbit.

I like this one a lot. The wings are so cool. The colors, I like the colors.

:-) Jeff lee johnson replies: "thank you laura! i think the wings and color scheme are my favorite parts too."

I love this piece! You are extremely talented 19)

Anyway, here's a thought: the dragon is heading for a group of wayfarers, who are on the mountainside, right? Well, I believe that the position his body is in would be perfect for landing on the mountainside, hind legs first. Birds do the same sort of manoeuver when they come in to land. So, you see, it's not 'off' at all..... 19)

:-) Jeff lee johnson replies: "thanks for the insight anna. i was thinking along those lines myself when i conjured up the pose, and i can see from your fine gallery that you have done your fair share of thinking about how creatures look and move. thanks for commenting!"

WOW!!! This is one awesome pic!! It's so realistic it just seems to jump right off the page! NICE WORK!

I think it's just that his front legs are a bit stubby, and both front and hind legs seem a bit stiff. Otherwise this is amazing, and looks like it's been done with oil, but some old master artist. I love it.

Ever thought of making a dragon and just do away with legs/arms and make the body slimmer?

Anyways muchos niceness, keep it up!!!

Hey well first I'd like to say I have been going through your gallery and I love it 1

This one I just had to comment on. I really think this one from all of them should have mod's because the way the dragon was drawn is so different from normal poses and it not something you see all the time.

And the color in this was beautiful, I like how its dark colors on the right side and gets brighter to the top left side, it gives it that natural look. And of course I would be the one to point out how much I like the details in the background.

(Sorry for the boring long comment) Great job and I hope to see more like this one 1

This is cool - very cool! Something about the style makes it look like a painting made by an eyewitness after the fact; I could believe this was a representation of a real event.

:-) Jeff lee johnson replies: "thanks!"
