| 31 Dec 2004 | Lucien G. Boutin jr. | Loading...Definatly on my top 5 favorite Elfwood paintings!!! This is so good! It is such a timeless and classic looking character and subject. It's been done a million times but it takes a great artist like you to make it look better. New, almost. Any writer could find inspiration in this painting, indeed, any of your paintings! And I have. He doesnt remind me of Gandalf, though, he reminds me more of Brom from the Eragon book. I really hope to get my art skills up to your level some day! Keep up the great work! Jeff lee johnson replies: "i very, very much appreciated your comments, lucien." | |

Although I prefer "real" (aka oil-) paintings for these motives, you did a fantastic job that shows just how well one can use computers in art. The lightning is exceptionally good and realistic, as if you had painted from a model, and I love the detail in the book and his face as well. The whole picture emanates an aura of supreme but humble knowledge and serenity, without lacking power and strength. Great piece of work all in all! | |

| 12 Dec 2005 | Carolin Emily Southern | Loading...It's so brilliant, it's unbelievable. The glasses are beautifully done especially, and his pipe too, but his face is the best of all, perfectly done. Very cool. | |
| 13 Dec 2005 | Melanie | Loading...Funny, I don't know how I ended up at this same image ... its been a year-ish? Maybe more? Nicely done on fixing the shadow issue of the orb; it's perfect. My only concern now is that is he wants to read his book, he's going to have to hold his hand up like that for a v. long time. Although I imagine his heart would over time learn to compensate for the blood draining out of the hand and pump more upward, I can't imagine that holding that position would be very comfortable. Not to mention that the other hand would be getting puffy since it's getting more blood than usual ... I wonder if his head would be similarly affected? Clearly then this image is anatomically inaccurate as the head and right hand do not exhibit the right degree of puffiness. Just kidding of course. Really well done. | |
