This little fellow is something of a mixture, drawing on what I understand of norse trolls, as well as traditional goblins etc. He is a mushroom picker who lives a simple life in the deep woodland hunting, with the help of the pig-like snouty creature just visible behind him, for edible mushrooms and fungi of all kinds. And yes, the nose is meant to be much too large.
