Your faces are beautiful, but some of your porportions are off. I can't really put a finger on it, they just don't look right. Your colors are great and your style unique, don't let anyone discourage you.

Eee! I like coloured pencil too! I didn't think it was possible to doodle humans in coloured pencil and not make other people flinch when they see them. Eeee! Feathers in coloured pencil are eeeevilllllllll and so is skiiiiiiin! Ever tried drawing a close up of human skin? It's crazy, I'd rather do feathers any day, I don't know how you have the patience.

:-) Tiffanie L. Gray replies: "I love faces. I used to think they were the hardest thing, but then I worked on them and worked on them, and now I love them. My advice is to try to draw faces as often as you draw feathers and you will suceed."

Hey, nice gallery you've got here!
Keep up the good work!
Oh, and feel free to pop by my gallery, eh? ,)p Okay, that was shameless, I admit it.
I really liked your picture "Ariel", and "Come hither". ^_^

I absolutely love your Aviarii elves! They're so great and so DETAILED!! I have no patience for detail. ^_^ I'm trying, but halfway through the pic I get bored and start drawing something else. I so love your faces, and that's something I need to work on. Any advice?

^_^

:-) Tiffanie L. Gray replies: "Well, for faces, its important to watch your proportions, when one feature isn't even or is misplaced, then the whole thing is off. Look at magazine pictures, measure how far it is between eyes, from eyes to nose, nose to chin, etc. Then Practice, practice, practice! Good luck!"

I noticed your question re: scanning pencil drawings. You are right, they are very hard to capture. Here is a tip that might help: Contrast is important, so if you original is not on an opaque medium try placing a sheet of black paper behind your drawing before you scan it. This trick works very well to eliminate backside images, and it might help your scans. You can also make a "dark" scan and then use your image processing software to adjust the contrast. Use the histogram function to broaden the contrast range of you image and compress the white & black ranges. Go for a flat/low contrast in the mid tones where your pencil has the most data.

Hey Tiffanie,

My name is Daxton, I talked to you daughter earlier today, and I am fascinated by how much we are alike, what with collecting swords, loving fantasy, and all that, I'm also amazed that my name apparently appears alot in your D&D accounts. Well, I love the drawings, they are amazing.

Sincerely,

Daxton

Awesome work! I think Darren needs to work less on his art and more on his grammar and spelling... ;-)
