These elemental sorceresses are half dark elf. One controls fire the other controls water. The background was supposed to invoke images of the sea, but failed dismally. This is an older picture.

the eyes are disconcerting... the overall impression I get is "really nice...". and heck, who cares about the background when the hair is so lov-er-ly

Nothing about this picture is a failure, dismal or otherwise. You may not like the background, but us fans of yours can see how much you've learned from the experiment. I especially love the the well-drawn contours of their face, and how the one colored lock of hair indicates which sister belongs to which element.

i have to aggree with the above - i think this came out realy well too - and because it's on the same scale and similiar sort of tecnique with the rest of the immage the background does look wet - like sea - and deep enough not to see bottem - and it needs to be that light or the whole thing would be too dark - anyway this works realy good - kind of stylized and poster effect ...

I love the drow characters as it is...and a facial portrait at that. More of my fave things in fantasy art. From one artist mom to another...great job!

Fans? I have fans! *bows head gratefully* Thank you! I've tried several variations on the drow theme, and they are one of the most successful.

I love drows . This is one of the finest portrait style images of a drow that I've ever seen . The only thing on the charactures that I see that could have been better is if you'd bring a bit more highlight (just a shade or so lighter that the skin ) on their skin .Only add the highlights on the parts of the skin you think would reflect the most light . It would help add realism to the piece .

The left one looks a bit like Claudia Schiffer, and that's not to be meant bad. I just like it

I LOVE the facial expressions, especially the water sorceress and I do not see any problem with the sea, in fact, I don't see anything else the background could be mistaken as.
