Not quite what you'd call a traditional mermaid. If someone could explain to me why mermaids should have noses, I'd be grateful. If not, enjoy my hopefully more realistic merperson ;) Anywho, Leeras are the distant cousins of Leneas (like apes to men. Though that's not so distant, if you get my point. Haha. Aren't I funny. *sigh*)

Traditional...baaahhh!! You've added features they should have in the first place. The fins on her back and the webbing between her fingers should be the norm!

:-) Tiia Löytty replies: "Thank you, I agree! Why do mermaids have a nose? They hardly would need it underwater ;D"

LoL...ya, why DO they have a nose? Hehe. I really like how this came out! Her tail is cool, and i'm sorry, but would mermaids like "The little mermaid" really live forever underwater without gills? hehe ^_^. Great job!

Everyone's entitled to a nose! She looks like a mummy. Great job on the basic lines!

:-) Tiia Löytty replies: "I repeat: what use would she have for a nose underwater? Hmm.. I have never seen a mummy with a fish tail. 2"

I dont think she looks like a leera. When I think of my daughter I named Leera, and why I named her that was because I believe its a pretty name. I dont believe the name Leera suits your mermaid. If it was a pretty mermaid then the name Leera would of been suitable. Im not putting your art work down, If I were you and could draw like you, I would of named her spike.

:-) Tiia Löytty replies: "Spike? I don't think Spike would have sounded very imaginative 2 And she IS pretty, actually a make-up model in her world... 12"

Your mermaid is not of the traditional style. And your right about me not having a imagination. Spike was just a joke. You are a lot more qualifyied in your art work than I am. Leera the name " in my own imigination has a hole different look.

i just stumbled onto this drawing when my friend suggested the name Leera to me for a story i was working on, i decided to do a search, and came upon this. i just had to say that it is a beautiful drawing, i think the best art is the kind that veers away from what tradition dictates...i agree that your Leera definitely looks as though she would survive underwater much better than what societies creation of mermaids would. Its Gorgeous, i would love to see more stuff like it.

Its great, looks like a mermaid should, without all those human characteristics that they dont need underwater..Have you ever tried an aquatic kangaroo? I tried that once, it actually looks pretty funny 2

hmm... Reminds me of the "mermaids" in the PS2 game Primal. Nice pic

Mermaids have noses becausewe expect them to. In Kestrel-ese this means good job erasing it!
