Tim J Stoffel

Tim I have been interested in sci-fi/fantasy most of my life, and enjoy many forms of both genres. My favorite though is 'hardware' type sci-fi, like 'Star Wars'. In real life, I am a full-time broadcast engineer, and a big cat keeper on the weekends. I am also an amateur radio operator, and I collect antique broadcast equipment.

I like fantasy art that involves lions or lion-like creatures, ligers, other big cats, gryphons, and fantastic carnivores. I also like fantasy art of spacecraft and other futuristic hardware. Although I have written fantasy stories most of my life, I am just starting to do art. Haven't completely decided on a medium, but I am starting out with acrylic paint. Like many artists here, I will likely do a lot of mixed-media work.

Interests
Lions, ligers and other big cats; amateur radio; broadcast equipment collecting, especially large format videotape machines; astronomy; the engineering, art and music of the pipe organ.

Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Movies and TV Shows
The 'Chronicles of Narnia' series, 'The Lion King' films, other sci-fi films like 'Independence Day' and the 'Star Wars' films. I like most of the various 'Star Trek' TV series. I also enjoyed older seties, such as 'Lost in Space', 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea', 'Space 1999' etc/

Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Books
'The Chronicles of Narnia' are by far my favorite fictional works. I also like the fantsdy works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Favorite Music
Classical music, especially the literature for the organ, and alternative Christian music. (There's an interesting combo!) I also like most other forms of music, espeiclly film scores.

I have always had a fondness for cats, especially the big cats, and it must be great to be close to them like you are. We live in Southern Arizona, the Sonora desert region, and have a resident cougar that lives somewhere in the neighboring Cabeza Prieta wildlife refuge- she occasionally ventures into our small town, and hunts javelinas. She has favored us by using part of our flat roof as a hunting platform! I once looked up, and there she was, about three feet away from my head, yet just calmly looked at me and sat there, waiting for the wild pigs. Still, when we hear her on the roof, we stay in the house. Looking forward to seeing your artwork when it posts! I also like organs, and play a little. I have always been interested in amateur radio, but have been held back by my inability to master Morse code. My wife and I also like Narnia- of course it’s easy to see why you do.
