Have you ever tried coloring your stuff? Just curious. Oh, what makes you say that you aren't cut out for the music world? Nonsense! Anyone can contribute in their own special way to music. Just because you haven't been classically trained or whatever... Oh well. I'm not going to try to change your mind if you've already decided! Good luck in whatever you choose to pursue. Tasia MacKay replies: "Yup yup, an artist too. Drawing was a hobby of mine before writing actually, but writing has become the more prominent of the two hobbies for me. So kind of you to drop by Brendon. I do use colour once in a while, but I prefer pencil. Actually I have a big 60 pack of Prismacolor pencils that I'm ashamed to say has only been used a few times. Hopefully I'll be colouring more in the future. To answer your question about music, it was the music professors at UVic who said that; at my audition they asked me a bunch of questions before I even started playing, and since I've never had lessons (BUT I was playing university-level songs, and quite well I must say) they were turned off right away (I literally saw their faces fall and harden) and I knew my chances of getting in had dropped dramatically in that fraction of a second, thus making me even more nervous and less confident in my playing and so..the rest is history I guess. I know Uvic isn't the ONLY university in the world, but once you hear something like that from a school renown for its music program, you kind of get the impression that the other schools will be looking for experience, not potential, as well. But music will NEVER stop being my main hobby/interest, and who knows what can happen down the road. Thanks again for commenting, come back soon!" | |
| 16 Feb 2006 | Marijke Mahieu | Hi Sweetie! I didn't know you were such a talented artist too. Now I get to be double jealous of your skills Really, if I had known you could draw and do such a fantastic job to boot I would have been all over your page begging for story illustrations by now (just kidding!...although) I predict lots of visitors to this gallery. I mean, how could people stay away when there's so much loveliness to see? I'll be spreading the word Marijke Tasia MacKay replies: "Thank you sooo much for all your comments!! Hm, story illustrations, eh? That would be fun! I'd be afraid my portrayals wouldn't live up to expectations though.. Thanks for coming by and for leaving such great comments, it really boosts up the ol' self esteem There are more pics on the way, so whenever you have time, you know where I am!" | |
| 18 Feb 2006 | Brian Rich | Well, hello again, Tasia. I thought you had fallen off the face of the earth! I found your little art gallery by mistake. I didn't realize you were such an artiste...the triple threat. On the music thing, I spent my time in college as a music major. It quickly became more like a job and no longer fun. I got to tour Europe for free once and that wasn't even fun! Now I work in computers lol. I play in a band on the side just for fun and no money. I think music is more fun when it is a hobby. English probably pays better . Well, I'm not going to let you be the only one with an overactive right-brain. I have a relatively new art gallery too! Jesslyn Stormheart demanded to be brought to visual life so who am I to refuse? Your pics look pretty good from here so I'm off to comment and take a closer look. Tasia MacKay replies: "Hello Brian! I practically did fall off the face of the Earth (as far as Elfwood goes, anyway) besides putting up this art page, of course. And I apologize profusely for having not visited your page for so long; please be patient with me and know that I have definitely not forgotten about your work and will be around to view/read it when things finally settle down (ie. when I get back from Korea in April) *whew!* I agree about the music thing, I think maybe it would be much more fun as just a hobby anyway. I wouldn't want school to ruin it for me (that's why I never took art classes either). I popped over to your art page and had a look but I can't remember if I left any comments yet (I don't think I did). I'll just say now that it looks pretty good! I'll drop by again and leave you some comments when I can. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Bye bye for now!" | |
| 20 Feb 2006 | Ryan 'Saint' Stringer | Awesome art gallery, sis! I am very impressed.. I sure wish I could draw.. I so want to see all of my characters put on paper like that. I note with appreciation that you seem to continually improve, and that is a great thing. Also, this explains why we haven't seen any stories out of you recently! Must change that! Tasia MacKay replies: "Why thank-you brother dearest! I really appreciate your encouraging comments, thanks for checkin' out my gallery! I do have stories in progress actually, I just never upload them because I'm never satisfied with them o.O Also I'm going through some pretty bad writer's block but hopefully it'll let up soon. Bye for now!" | |
| 23 Aug 2006 | Emma Kathryn McDonald | Wow, when did you turn to the art side? (Star Wars reference...replaced "dark" with "art"...oh forget it...I'm a geek + i dont even like star wars that much) I'm impressed!!! Now I have to envy you like I do all the other people with more than one gallery. God damn you're talented. *slinks away back into her corner* Lotsaluv, Em Tasia MacKay replies: "LOL love the Star Wars pun..I personally am a huge fan of Star Wars (and puns..so when you put the two together..it's hay-day in Tasia-land). Thanks for your awesome comments!!" | |
