"Dreams" by Yukimi Mills

This is my entry to a "Design a Dragon" competition over at DeviantART. The challenge is basically to illustrate/convey your own dragon creation. Mine is certainly not the most original, but I came up with the Shelian half a year ago, and since I've always avoided drawing them because I fear messing them up horribly. I don't think this one came out that bad, and the theme itself evolved as I painted it.

I called it "Dreams" because that is what it wants to do. For me, it's like the Shelian is urging you to take flight into the solace and bliss of your dreams. Or maybe it's more than that? I don't usually paint with such bright tones, but I felt in my gut that this had to be the first. This had to be it.

Dedicated also to my dog who passed away yesterday. Rest in peace <3
