Great proportions - and I am so impressed that you can do modern weaponry as well as the swords and armor in your fantasy gallery. Do you research your scifi art as much as your fantasy pieces? Il Tode
replies: "Hello there.
Yes yes, you have a point there. I actually DO some research.
I'm no pro here, mind you, BUT I felt my guns looked just wrong.
I had a grasp of ancient and medieval weaponry, but I knew nothing of firearms.
So, what did I do? I started digging into the web, and found out a goldmine of info.
So far, I've put together a good archive of photos and datas.
This collection helped me in two ways: first, of course, I had actual models to draw after. This helped me "ironing" out the details.
Second: I started discriminating between calibers and types. I could draw just the gun that felt "right" for each particular character.
Take this Yakuza sweeper. The carbine he employs is based on actual SWAT guns: the butt and receiving unit are based on M4 and M16 models, the magazine is a 7.62 NATO type, and the barrel is modelled after the German MP5.
This was an earlier pic, so details are still hazy - and I could single out a couple of bloops - but I really liked putting it together from the infos I gathered.
Regards and thanks for reading this blurb!"
