A spring day 30,000 years ago, somewhere near the Baltic. A fairy creature alights on a tree branch to rest and take in the beauty of the day. It's one of those days where everything is vivid, the quality of the light such that things take on a liquid sheen, the sky so blue and clear it's as if you could reach out and touch it, if you threw a pebble up at it, the sky would ring like crystal. The pine trees smoking with pollen add their own golden sparkle to the air. The greens so vibrant and alive contrasting with the deep shadows beneath the canopy of pine needles. The flash of red from the shoulder of a black bird. He takes all this in filling himself with life, with joy. As the afternoon wears on he stirs to move and finds himself stuck, his struggles only mire him worse. Perhaps he calls out, but there are no others of his kind close by or he maybe remains silent for fear of predators. Either way he struggles on alone, exhausted into the night. By morning the flowing sap has completely covered him. After some weeks of hardening in the sun, a rain storm washes the blob of resin that encaseses him onto the forest floor where it is soon covered by the slow rain of pine needles. .................... Some Fairy creatures are immortal, oh sprites can be killed, eaten, crushed or burned by flame. But as they are spirits of nature kin to the elementals they gain their sustenance directly from the life force of the world around them from the trees and green growing things. As long as there are trees................ Stillness, cold and unending dark........... Then he is washed from a river bank in a spring rain, light! The warmth of the sun! For the first time in thousands of years! Dose he remember? What happens next? Will he be found? By whom? Or has this happened before, the amber is polished, will he be uncovered now only to be buried again? Created in Illustrator and colored in Photoshop. It looses a lot at this resolution.

Ha ha, I love this! The story's great, and all I can think is "Jurassic Park"!

The story is great. Very deep reaching, and philisophical. The picture is very interesting though. Did you intend for your fairy to be unorthodox in shape, with its squarish body, or is the amber just significantly altering the view?

Great detail however, the texture and backround add very odd but effective coloring, giving a great impression of a forgotten forest floor.
