 30inch X 22inch watercolor on hot-press watercolor paper.

about 20 hours.

I haven't worked with watercolor for a few years and decided to try out a new brand of watercolor from M. Graham & Co. out of Oregon USA. I was pleased with how workable the paints are. They will work even better with a better quality paper.

She has found a nice place to get some sun and play with the surface tension of the water with her water strider friend.

The flower, the water and leaves are quite well-painted. The faery could be slightly better defined and you do end up wondering why there is no reflection of her in the water. Although that could have been intentional.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Good observation. I had a reflection in the original drawing but all that would show was the right leg and the tip of the left foot, a bit of the hip and some wing. I thought It would be more of a distraction so I went for the ’no-reflection-magic’ effect cheat 12 I may play with it digitally and see what I can do. If I can get something that works I should be able to add it to the painting later."

The water lilly leaves are my favourite part of the picture. THey’ve got lovely depth and texture to them.

It’s a nice drawing. Though it’s a little odd there is no reflection of her as well as the other leaves in the water.
