24in. x 18in. oil on stretched canvas. completed in 1985. This piece depicts my story of the creation of the Unicorn. The short version is... A nymph, not wanting the attentions of the ever pesky satyrs and centaurs, molded from the elements the first Unicorn to be her guardian. The creation worked so well that other nymphs did the same. This eventually caused the extinction of the satyre and centaurs. After the nympth's time on the surface of the world gave way to the time of humans and the nymphs no longer called on the unicorns, the unicorns found occasion to show themselves to the one creature most like their nymph creators... vergin female humans.

sooo pretty!! & also the story; I like this version a lot ^^ Hope I could see a unicorn some day 1D
Good techic, as ever b ^u^b

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks again Karu! I don't think that unicorns ever made it to the Americas. Maybe when you get to Japan. Don't they have something that looks a little like a unicorn? A Kirin? 1 (or the Latin; Unicornus sinoensis ;- )"

A wonderful illustration. What a terrific composition. Your placement of the figures isolates the dramatic action excellently. Despite your story, I'm rooting for the centaur!

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks, Greg! One thing about my art is that you, the viewer, can have what ever story and outcome you want. I set up a moment that is neither beginning or end. And my version is only one possible story, not the only story."

O.O

Okay, I give up.

TONY! This is amazing!! 1 I LOVE the unicorn!! He's so perfect (yup, it's a he--all animals are 'he's to me). The action is incredible--it's like I could click the un-pause button on my remote and the unicorn would spring forth, possibly gore the centaur, and splash away.

Brilliant. Amen. That's it. Hallelujah.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thank You, Jenna! I think that You will be doing work that is better than this some day soon.;-)"

Your work brings to mind some of the classic masters of fantasy such as Vallejo. It’s really fun to look at.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thank you, Cristy! So happy you enjoy looking. Feel free to do so all you want ;-)"

Fantastic picture, and I love the idea behind it. You ought to flesh it out and turn it into a tale.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks Patricia. I only tell stories with a single moment in time 1 A writer, I am not. Though I could be if I wanted to take the time away from all the other things I do, so I will leave the short stories and novels to individuals like yourself 1 "

*applauds* brilliant concept story, i love the traditional style you gave this one, just like the old grecian paintings/renaissance frescos.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks Natalie! *bows in appreciation* 2"
