14in. x 11in. Pen & Ink on 'Paris Bleedproof Paper for Pens', completed 2007. Tangled in an old fishing net, exhosted and washed up on the beach, she hopes she can free herself before anyone knows she is there... human or mer. Her friends would never let her live this one down.

Woa, she had bad luck! I hope she can free herself before it's too late 16
I like a lot all the detail that this pic has; is really pretty. The texture in the tail is wonderfull & also her expression... I can see & feel her fear!
Nice work, as ever, Tony. &, by the way, FIRST COMMENT DANCE & PARTY!! YEAH!!! *dances 1*

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "YEAH!! Thanks Karu! I feel sooo much better now, and she feels less neglected.**Beach Party with Karura. \m/ >_< \m/**"

Haha! You know, if I were a mermaid, that's EXACTLY how I'd end up. Even as a two-legged beastie, I still get tangled up in things!

Great work! Possibly my favourite so far. It's beautiful. And I love the style in which you did it! It looks clean--this is something I would expect to see as an illustration in a book of humorous fairy-tales. 1

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Jenna as a mermaid... for a book of humorous fairy-tales?? That could happen! Thanks for the idea ;-)"

great story behind it, and you’ve truly caught that desperation of her to get out of the net and looking round worriedly to see if someone is out there... i love the small fin she’s got on her hip, it’s so beautiful2! and you’ve done a great job in shading the sand around her. nice!!!

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "I enjoyed doing this one. Thanks for the comment."

very sad, she’s very beautiful

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks Victoria. I don’t know how I missed your comment, sorry!"

I love it! I only see one problem(for me at least) I wish there was less detail above the mouth and she looks like her front teeth are spaced to far apart(but like I said thats just me 2 )

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "I guess we better throw her back then. Who wants an imperfect mermaid? That just wouldn’t be realistic. 12 Thanks for the input Sierra, I did get a little thick with the lines between the teeth. I will need to be more careful in the future (and work with a thinner pen tip). 2 "

Wow! I love the picture! It’s an interesting and sad idea for a mermaid not to be free- to be caught in a net. And I LOVE her expression!

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "You will be happy to know that she made it back to the sea safe and sound though I don’t know if her friends ever found out what happened 12 Thanks for your concern... and comment Genevieve. 2"
