14in x 11in, oil on stretched canvas. And now for something a little different... I got together one day with a small group of 4 artists and we talked about doing a creative exercise. Each of us did a quick, rough sketch on a piece of paper and we put them in a bag. From this bag we each picked a sketch (not our own). We were to then interpret the sketch however we wanted, to produce a finished piece of art. Unfortunatly, I was the only one who did it. Fortunatly, I ended up with this piece. I would like to have seen each artist work on all of the sketches, produceing 5 pices each (at maybe 8'x10' to 9'x12') and then do an exhibit together showing the original sketchs and the 5 different interpretations of each sketch. Maybe some day I'll find a couple of people who will be seriously interested.

Neat.
That actually sounds like a really cool excercise to try-unfortuanatley none of my pals can draw too well

1 Tony Orzech replies: "Too bad about your 'pals'. I'll let you know if I'm looking for anyone to do it again. I had another comment from someone that wanted me to keep them in mind, unfortunatly I accidentally deleted their comment :-{ Oops!"

I love this picture, it would be awesome to see the original sketch too, do you still have it?

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Sadly, no, I don't :-("

First off, let me just say that I love this picture. It is beautiful. Second, I am a fellow artist (though not registered on here) and I would love to do something like that! Dunno how we'd make it work online, but I'm willing to try ^-^

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thank you, Holly! This would be easy to do online. But I would like to see some of your art first ;-) Do you have anything you can show me?"

Ooooooh yowzers!!! That excercise sounds like so much fun. I would be willing to do it!!! Although i´m not as skilled nor am i in the conditions to do so at the moment because of work from college. I would do it in summer, if you´re willing!!! Hope to hear more from you.^^

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Hi Laura! I will be In Italy for 3 weeks this summer, but maybe at the end of July into August we could do something. I may have a few others who will be interested too. I will let you know if I can put something together. "

Ha! I love it! Of course, I'm from Austin... we have a thing for weird chicks with guitars, what can I say? ^____^ Brilliant, as always. And I'd be MORE than willing to do an exercise like that! Might grant some inspiration, which I've been seriously lacking these days.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks again, Cynthia. I will keep you in mind and I will let you know if I can put this together."

This piece is very nicely done, I can't get over your backgrounds! They are so amazing (not that the subjects aren't good, they are great as well, but as I lack in the background department that is what especially amazes me 2. The idea of switching sketches sounds fun, that's a great idea especially in case you get artist's block or something. Keep up the excellent work!

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thank you miss Thomason. I was drawing and painting nature and animals and the human form about 5 years before I was aware of fantasy and Sci-fi. (I am part of the generation that helped make the D&D gaming and fantasy/sci-fi books and art become so popular. ;-) So I had a lot of practice that made it so much easier to incorporate backgrounds into the fantasy and sci-fi art I do now. I am surprised that an equine artist like yourself has not spent more time drawing the surroundings and environments to go with your horses. Thanks for the comment."

Great idea bout exchanging your sketches
love this one
the urban feel of it
and the faerie character well i just love her
maybe she'll sing freight train blues ..
Woww she is fabulous
and the arrangement and composition is very pleasing

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks Pixie! I did enjoy doing this. I have a few individuals that have expressed interest in trying the sketch project. I will make this a goal for 2008, to set up a sketch exchange and make the results part of a tour here in the woods. Hay! where is your art?"

Wow i really like this one! Random art button finally shows me something good! Hurrah! 1
And that idea of the sketch and pick a random one and make a finished piece4 of art!
Do you mind if i do that with a few of my friends?

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks for the comment Ivy. The Idea for this exercise was not mine and is open game for anyone who wants to try it with their friends. Go for it and let me know how it turns out."
