This is a mixture of the the mythical Medusa (a woman who was cursed so her hair was snakes, she had wings that did not work, a human female face & body...), the ray Harryhausen version of Medusa (the serpent body, instead of taloned feet) and my own twist on the whole thing.

This is the youthful Medusa. Just after she was cursed and realizing that her eyes turn men to stone. She is in front of a Minoan fresco of a griffin like in the palace of Knossos on Crete (just because I liked it ;-).
The original is 18 inches X 24 inches, the medium is Walnut Ink from Paper & Ink Arts (a water soluble, dry granule material that makes a sepia colored ink/wash) and is panted on a parchment paper.
It took about 43 hours from concept to completion.
