This past Summer, after a hard rain, the high water receded to reveal a 1-3 inch layer of clay that was deposited over what is normally a small sand beach area, next to my favorite swimming spot. I collected much of the clay to sculpt this 4 foot by 4 foot Hippocamp. It took about 5 hours to do and it lasted for 2 weeks. That was when the next high water came and let him swim away... along with all the clay.

Guys, this is why you always want to carry a digital camera with you. You never know what kind of cool pictures you can get. You have real talent.

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks Heidi. I really like my digital camera. This sculpture would have been lost without it. 1 "

cool.i once did a mermaid but it wasn’t made out of clay

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "I assume you did your mermaid in sand? I did a few of those too but they were trampled on before I could photograph them. Thanks for the comment Samantha and let me know when you have your art posted."

200 thumbs up. why didn’t you take it and then use a kiln?

:-) Tony Orzech replies: "Nice idea, but this was over 4 feet square. A little too large for any kiln I have ever had access to. And even if I did have the kiln, I never would have gotten it up the steep hill side through the woods, in one piece. No, this was done with the knowledge that it would be short lived, like a snow sculpture or sand castle, done just for the fun of it 2"
