So my opinion would be that the concept of something better than humans isn't quite what the picture shows. It is technically very good, but I think form and meaning don't really match. I hope that makes any sense. Good luck to you too! Tony Orzech replies: "The 'story' is just a fictitious view of an assumed entity and not intended to be a serious religious belief. So as a piece of art, it is what ever YOU want it to be, not what I had in mind for it.So if this is just a naked woman with wings to you (in spite the fact that IT does not have all the anatomical pieces and parts, just the general shape of a woman) than I hope that it is at least visually pleasing to you. (And it makes for a fun debate ;-)."
| 25 Apr 2007 | Ajder Andrei | Loading...thanks for letiting me know about your new pic... the coloring in this is simply exquisit... no doubt about that. but I hope you won't mind a bit of critick... firstly, I do not really agree with the conception of angels actually having a phisical form, let alone it looking like humans... but that is just a personal tuch, and presents no importance in this critick ( I am not going to counter your views at all ). Now, on to the actual critick: the first thing that bugs me a bit about this is that the wings seem a bit stiff... so perfectly formed and aranged... it just gives me the fealing that they aren't actually mobile. what I would have imagined would have been feathers from the very tip beying blown this way and that by a small gust of wind... givven that thei hair reacts to that gust of wind as well... it would have integrated the wings in the overal scenary a bit more. I have no critick on the actual body since my anatomical skills are a compleet loss, so I am not in the position to critick there. The last critick I have is on the actual buildings. they are shaded and colored very well... but what I feal is that they are lcking in texture... they all seem so smouth and perfectly shaped... gives a bit of idea of it beying fake... like a movie set. Cracks and dots on the ( presumabelly ) stone surface and the statues would give a more accurate idea of their nature. Anyways, I hope you didn't mind me sayin these things, and if I offended in any way, please excuse me, as it was not my intentione... Tony Orzech replies: "Hi Ajder! I welcome your thoughts and opinions. That is what this site should be about. Creative individuals sharing creative thoughts and Ideas. To be honest, I don't really agree with the concept of angles, period ;-). I will be doing a version of the Cherub as described in the bible which I have never seen artistically depicted accurately to the description (they were never described as a baby with wings, that is more a cupid). Any way, As for the texturing of the stone, that is a great idea if I intended it to be aged and weathered like Notre-Dame is today or even 100 years ago. The winged statue, the gargoyle to the far left and the demon below Uriel's feet are all on Notre-Dame, but they are now very decayed. I was going for the newly built look, more like the archangel is 'blessing' the new construction with the dawn of a new day, the light of god. I guess I should put that in the description. So your ideas are valid and would make a nice image, unfortunately they would make it a different image with a different message. I also need to adjust this image so the color and shading is more accurate to the original which is a lot darker and the background has more yellow and orange. Thanks, Ajder, for taking the time to share your thoughts. All good ideas ;-) " | |

Smith | Loading...Beautiful picture, the angel and the majority of the foreground are painted incredibly well and must have been time consuming, the colours are also incredible, my only crit would be that I think that the sky is a little bit to saturated (especially the blood red top) but hey that’s just personal taste anyway once again lovely picture and very well done. Tony Orzech replies: "Hi Alex. Thanks for the observation. The unnatural coloring of the sky was done for a couple of reasons.Originally it was going to be for an art competition with the theme 'the color red' (I was unable to finish it in 7 days so I missed the deadline). The other reason is I was going for a dramatic color effect (you know about dramatic color effects, you use it in some of your art ;-) to depict an unusual/miraculous event and not just a pretty sunrise. Bottom line, it was done on purpose ;-) "

The sky is beautiful, man... Congrats and let me express my most sincere hatred! *kiss of death* Tony Orzech replies: "I warned you about dropping that thing. Now you have spit all down the front of you *hands you a towel to dry yourself with*. And next time, please put your jaw back on before kissing me ;-)...Thanks Laura!"
| 7 May 2007 | Sarah Troyer | Loading...I think you did a wonderful job here Tony. I think the idea that angels are human-like but not human and therefore don't need the extra parts we do is probably fairly accurate. It's a gorgeous piece of work. Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks again Sarah! Always nice to hear from you." | |
| 18 May 2007 | Njna Kroner | Loading...beautiful... stunning... Great atmosphere. Isn't she a real goddess? =) (ps: I like the colour red, hehe) Another masterpiece in your gallery, Tony Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks for the flattery, Njna According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia; Uriel (????????? "Flame of God", Auriel/Oriel (light of god) Standard Hebrew Uri?el, Tiberian Hebrew ?Ûrî?e¯l) is one of the archangels of post-Exilic Rabbinic tradition, and also of certain Christian traditions. But my version doesn't follow any religious stories. I appreciate the comment. The story is of my own making and not from any religious source. I only used the name of the Archangel Uriel and the light of god reference from religious sources. But I am happy you like it." | |
| 29 Jul 2007 | Kristen Diane Scallion | Loading...I love the lighting and the details in this one. Architectural backgrounds and details is something I'm working on. Beautiful work. Tony Orzech replies: "I hope to, some day, do this as an oil painting. I have it ready to transfer to canvas, I just need to make the time to do it. ;-) Thanks for the comment, Kristen." | |
| 3 Jan 2008 | Jenna 'Kaikisuka' Linn Barton | Loading...Oh my gosh... Okay, bar none. This is IT Tony. This is ART! This is...LIGHTING LIGHTING LIGHTING!! Love it,absolutely. Especially the way her hair is blowing up from her face--makes it feel so real. It does look like Notre Dame! But as I focused on the little gargoyle tucked in there, making an impish face, I was reminded of a very interesting cathedral called York Minster, in York, England. When I was there, they had little imps just like that, tucked away in crevices and all over. Apparently, the faces they made, and their positioning, was once symbolic, almost like a code. But the meaning of the little gargoyles has been long lost, and no one has a clue. I'll bet that angel could tell me. Tony Orzech replies: "Next time I get to talk with Uriel I will ask for you ;-) Any other life altering questions you want to ask?" | |
| 12 Feb 2009 | Richard Zachmann | Loading...Marvelous... wonderful... easily your best. Tony Orzech replies: "Thanks again Richard. I am pleased with the finished piece One of these days I will do this as an oil painting too. I have the canvas ready to go but there are a few other images I want to finish first. " | |
