...Imagine evil, so vast and mighty, that even to think of fighting it feels like a sin. Imagine people, living under that evil, trying to please it, to ignore it's doings, to put up with the results. And then one day a preson rises, saddles his horse and goes on lonely suicidal mission put end to it. Later, they may call him a hero...

Riding into the dark

Those, who loved wouldn’t look at me,

Those, who knew me, would turn away,

Someone said: “Half-sky is fire and storm,

And it came for you all the way!”

The sunset is bloody and the sky is dark,

And I’m aware of nearing pain:

All bolts of lighting will find me,

Leaving you hard wind and icy rain.

Black is my horse and my cloak not white,

And nothing left to give,

And nasty whisper stalks behind:

“You are too brave to live!”

I don't know what to say... This is just... magnificent. Maybe some places of the poem seem a bit awkward but the feeling it carries overwhelms the mind. Such thoughts only come with the wisdom of years. I think many people will feel a tempation to use this for a book idea when they will read it. The last line strikes like a bold of lightning. Bravo, Natalie!

:-) Natalie Touretsky (Gerie Aren) replies: "There is number of such stories2 The one it brings to my mind is the play "Dragon" by A. Shvarts. I wrote it in very dark period of my life, when my grandmother was dieing. It wasn't connected with evens of real life, but the mood was just as dark."

What I like the most about this poem is that it tells a story. It reminds me in an odd way of The Elric Saga, a series of books about a dark hero. This poem is excellent!

its gently powerful... I love it... at first i was going to criticize your punctuation and grammer... but where it looks wrong to the technical eye, it fits in the poem. its beautiful

:-) Natalie Touretsky (Gerie Aren) replies: "Thank you!!2 As my mom once said: "It's a right of the poet to twist the grammar in order to emhpasis the feelings, but he have to make sure the poem is still readible"2))))))"

How powerful that is...I'm gaping at my screen, thanks for the inspiration for another story of mine...How cool... That is so......AWESOME
I love this! How did you think of it? Oh wow.....

:-) Natalie Touretsky (Gerie Aren) replies: "Thank you!2 It will be interesting to read your story2)))"

For some reason, I like it when a hero isn't popular. Sometimes it takes a real hero to stand up to what common folks think and do the unpopular thing as well as fight the big, bad monster.
