| 6 Mar 2004 | Thomas Niekel | Loading...I agree with Nick Graves Don't bother what your old man says! If you want to make money by drawing, you can! Especially with this rate of skill. And if it doesn't, no-one can stop you from drawing ever. | |
| 7 Mar 2004 | An Artistic Cat | Loading...Well you dad is write artistry is very low paying. A lot of artests paint and draw as there little job on the side lines. I would recomend with your great skill to go to an artistic colage but take coarses on other stuff too. like ilastrating. you could ilastrate books for a living wich pays more and plus you could keep drawing other things and sell them in your town or on ebay. Effle tower drawings sell big there.
Any ways that is my cheese for today. And congrads on your first mods choice.
| 19 Mar 2004 | Christine N. Colvin 'Zombie Queen' | Loading...Heck, honey, my parents, while they encouraged me to draw, tried their best to steer my artistic bents towards graphic design. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be designing consumer labels for corporate conglomerates for the rest of my working life. So, I’m majoring in Illustration in the hopes of getting on with a graphic arts company as a illustrator, while working on the comic book that I have in the works on the sideline, with the plan to eventually make that my full time money maker, and finally own my own comic book publishing company. When you first start out, no, art doesn’t pay all that much, but look at folks like Michael Whelan, Larry Elmore and Robin Wood. They make their bread and butter off their art, but they’re fairly well known and work tireless days and nights to make their deadlines. Anyway, you do wonderful work and if you really want something bad enough, you can make it happen, no matter the odds. If you want to be a professional artist bad enough, then you can do it. | |

| 7 Jul 2006 | [M. King] | Loading...Keep drawing if it makes you happy. No matter who or who doesn't support you, do what makes you happy. If you want to do that for a living, more power to you. If it doesn't pay the bills, do something else, but that doesn't mean you have to stop drawing. Compromise. I don't know how exactly to put it into words, but find a balance, make sure you can support yourself (and family when it comes) and be happy at the same time.
By the way, My Papa's Waltz, we read that in highschool, that was one of my favorite poems.
