If the arrow was on the other side it would be on the back of his hand above his thumb. The stance may not be completed yet so the draw may still be in action (drawing his bead). Yes, the hold on the string/arrow is awkward and would have been better portrayed as gripped between the first 2 fingers.

| 1 Apr 2003 | Archer | Loading...I think the drawing is great. I am a master archer and can tell you the arrow does belong on the other side of the bow. As for the draw of the bow there are many different ways to draw as well as shoot, and it has never been cut and dry as to what method is best. This picture shows the archer at full draw in an instinctive shooting style (No Sights on the bow)the forefinger on the bow hand is used as and arrow rest and or guide. Even though that part of the picture has had debate the picture over all is excellent. | |

| 8 Jul 2004 | Dakeyras | Loading...Archer is right, the arrow *does* go on the other side of the bow, I did archery for five years. Where the arrow is now, it would fly away from the target. The arrow does *not* rest on the thumb, it should rest on the top of his hand (if, of course, there is no arrowrest available). Plus, he would be sighting on the left side of the string, therefore for the Arrow to be in a straight line to its target, it also would have to be on the left side of the bow.
That being said, it *is* a fantastic picture.
