SciFi and Fantasy Art Having That Dream Again by Ursula Vernon

So I was lying on the couch, trying to take an afternoon nap, when this image is suddenly dropped with chilly clarity directly into my brain. I fought it off for a minute or two, then got up, sighed, scribbled it down, and set to painting. This is what a friend of mine calls a 'sacrifice to the Muse.' Most of the time she lets me paint whatever banal illustration for money or weird little comics for fun that I want. Occasionally, however, she shoves an image, fully formed, into my brain, and I will drop everything and paint it, because even if it's a weird freaky thing involving a wasp-creature and really disturbing grapes, to NOT paint it would risk that the painting would set up residence in my brain, poking all the grey matter and chewing on my ear, and nobody wants that. Here it is. I don't know what it means, but I get the impression of alchemy from it--grapes full of homonculi and some kind of weirdly delicate wasp spirit familiar checking to see if they're ripe. (Just to nip any possible misinterpretation in the bud--this has nothing to do with my feelings on either abortion or stem cell research, since I'm pro-both.) Also, lest the title mislead you, it came with the image--I've never dreamed about any of it, but that's what it wanted to be called. Pesky muse.
