Valerie likes to create images using the GIMP

I've always like to draw and paint. In 2004 I discovered the GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) so now I can paint on my computer. No cupboards full of canvases and no running out of white paint at a crucial point. I love story telling games, dragons, fantasy and alternate realities and as well as my pictures I write poetry and stories though not all in fantasy genre. Some of my pantomimes have been performed by a local amatuer theatre. I make pictures and write because I can't help it, the ideas wake me in the night and nag me until I get them down on paper or my computer. I am very excited to be a Portrait Adoption artist.

I really enjoyed looking at your gallery!
That being said... Do you use your mouse? Or do you have a tablet? Either way your work is unique and I really enjoy viewing it. I couldn't imagine drawing with my mouse though. It would be enough to drive me insane, especially as my hand seems to shake more when using my regular mouse =( Keep up the excellent work!

:-) Valerie Joanne Higgins replies: "Yep, I'm still stuck with my mouse. My line work is not too good but I tend to shade in blocks of colour anyway. Maybe one day I'll afford a Wacom Graphire."

Hi! I must say that my favourite pictures in your gallery are your crocheted unicorn and dragon. You don't see much of these in the Woods... Congrats for your originality and skills! Oh, and thanks for commenting at my place, too!

:-) Valerie Joanne Higgins replies: "Thankyou for calling by."

Sorry to post two in a row, I didn't mean to imply that you didn't take your art seriously. You have some very nice pieces here, my favorites being Nag and Frostbite. Take care!

:-) Valerie Joanne Higgins replies: "Life is too important to be taken seriously! You can be diligent and still be mirthful. Glad you like my whimsy. I'm always trying to improve my work but sometimes I just have a punning idea that I just have to express."

I love the whimsy of your work. Too many people take things too seriously (not just on this site), and it's always a refreshing experience to see someone who is not afraid to have a little fun. Keep having fun with art, and I hope too see more!
