| 14 Mar 2011 | Jason Rivenscryr Vance | Loading...So i really like your works man! Seriously, your style is really well defined. And your ability to create intricate characters without making creating too much action within the picture is just spectacular! You gotta tell me how you keep your drawings in proportion! I normally use 1/4" graph paper, but recently I’ve moved on to just blank pieces and I’m finding it hard to get the scale that I want. Do you have any recommendations?
And wouldn’t you know it, I make knives in my spare time! They’re not that great as I’m just starting out, but it’s a great coincidence don’t you think? Jay A De Foy replies: "well just remember this. The head that you draw, will typicaly fit into a body 7 times. BUT! I draw my ladies with amazon bodies, and when you draw hero bodies typically you tryto fit in 8 heads. I like to lengthen the legs a bit, and the torso. like this: Top of the head to the chin, chin to nipples, nipples to belly button, button to crotch, crotch to mid thigh, thigh to under mid shin, shin to bottom of the foot. or something like that." | |

| 17 Mar 2011 | Toni J Kaukinen | Loading...You know, I only happened to stumble on your page because of your recent Mod Pick, but I wish I had done so much earlier. I’m a fervent believer in "less is more" when it comes to art and colouring, and have always preferred simple black and white pencil and/or ink drawings. I would think you have some sort of influences grounded in Marvel/DC comics, which is not bad at all. Frankly, given your background, I would have loved to see your illustrations on the books the writer of Badass of the Week (Google it, though I think you already know of it) has published. With your this-screams-badass style, I think you may have had a nice commission right there.
Had I the money and had I known you earlier, I would certainly have commissioned you to draw a couple of characters from my stories at Wyvern’s.
Also, looking at your comments to Jason, damn, you’re making your art look like both science and... uh... art. I was always taught that the head is 1/8 of a body’s fit, but you might guess that I never quite got the hang of it myself... Jay A De Foy replies: "wow thanks for all the support! lol yeah I don’t really think about the "heads in a body" thing anymore. Now I kinda just have my stuff established.
Thanks again!" | |
