Tag As FavoriteComment		If you do not know your Egyptian mythology, which most people don't, then I will inform you that this is Isis and Osiris. Osiris was a king and diety of agriculture, but was then killed by his brother, Seth and became the god of the underworld. Kind of the Egyptian equivalent of Hades if you will. Isis was his wife. The sun and moon were said to be the eyes of Horus, their sun, hence the 'eye of Horus' on the sun. The picture is one I did for an art class in the summer of 01. We were supposed to do a different version of the American Gothic...that's why there's that stupid window on the pyramid and the pitch-fork, we HAD to include those.

All my life I have been interested in Egyptian Mythlogy. The culture and traits are very unque and fun to learn about. I would like to travel to Egypt one day and see all the sights they have. This is a very good picture. It doesn;t even look like someone drew it. This picture looks like it was taken with a camera a long time ago. GREAT JOB!

Aww this drawing is so cute I love how Osiris is looking at Isis very lovely and don’t worry Ancient Egyptians portrayed Isis as Hathor. Isis-Hathor were originally two separate goddesses, but through time and confusion of their aspects, they were combined. Isis’ cult grew in importance until she absorbed nearly all other goddesses, and now Nut, Hathor, and Isis are virtually interchangable as mother-goddess.
