SciFi and Fantasy Art Pointillism? 2003 by Vanessa Skye Galloway

Yes, boring title to a pic I just can't name. It seems sort of symbolic for something. People I’ve showed it to have said most often that she is a weird genie, but a few have called her a mermaid. I don’t know, but I would like to know what you think! (Btw, I call it pointillism cuz I created it after my high school instructor introduced me to that art method and this picture was my first experiment with the idea.)

17 Nov 2003	Anonymous	Loading... I don't know if I would really call this pointalism... it uses dots in some spaces, but not throughout the piece. They do give it a nice touch though... the color use is nice... did you use watercolor? It appears to be too heavy on the left side because of the dark color on the bottom... hm... very interesting though. Don't listen to "homo guy". lol. Vanessa Skye Galloway replies: "Well, the title of the piece is 'Pointalism?' as in, 'is this realy pointalism?' or'can i give this a better name?' ANyway, This pieces was acctually done in colored pencils before i started paying attention to anything like symitry. :b"

I think I would consider her a water sprite, though I can see why people might think she's a genie with the lamp-looking thing beside her. Maybe someone's mistaken her for a genie and is trying to capture her in the lamp? She's smart tho, so she's making them think it's working before flipping them off and skittering away with a "Haha! Suckers >_>"

The Mermaid sort of looks like a man because of its hefty figure and the breasts are up really high. The color us is exquisite and overall I think it is a wonderful piece.
25 Aug 2009	Anon.	Loading... Hmm, she looks more like a water dryad to me... one minute you see a figure standing in the shallows, the next minute, just a few bubbles. But you would swear that the water looks deeper there now... either way, you’re scared to go wading anymore in this paticular lake....
