I’m assuming that this is supposed to be a rifle meant for extraterrestrial use - it looks a little too awkward for a human to wield (not to mention being more than 2 metres in length). Still a nice design for such a weapon!

Some range! Must have a bit of a recoil?

McCoy replies: "I’ve put thought into that..that back section on the gun slides over the shoulder...the recoil energy is transferred perfectly into a sort of "ball bearing" (well lubricated) and forces the "ball bearing backwards through that tube with plenty of padding in the back... ^^"

A self dampening recoil. Very useful. And being a sniper rifle it would make sense to do that.
