The price to preserve my innocence was high, but I didn't know it then.  I was far too young to know that, for the darkness to shelter you, you must give up pure happiness.  I've tried to escape from its grip, but I always wind up being pulled back, and now I've been tied down, my wings torn long ago...
I've noticed that all the pets that I loved died in horrible ways, and I've never kept a boyfriend up to a year.  The last of which is who had me tied down...

This is so sad! Poor her/you! I know the emotions you describe, although I usually have the gift of seeing light in the darkest places (a good thing but sometimes people believe I don't take situations serious enough because of it).
And so I think there is still hope for her - her eyes are still open and turned upwards where there is some light!

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "YES! (WOAH!!! The spacebar works on this computer again!) I often find myself obscuring the light because I belive that it teases me, but I WILL learn to accept it. Yes, the light is something that we strive for! (Thanx for comenting!)"

bhautiful, I love the emotion on this peice and the symbolism of the thorns, very nicely done. Also, I agree with Roland Gromes, there is hope here.

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "*sighs* Thank you, the thorns were rather obnoxious though... and there shall ALWAYS be hope! It's just often obscured by the pain..."

I really have no Idea what to say other than it's great

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "*Sighs* -_- You always seem to be speachless-ish on stuff like this."

Gee thanks stephanie. Oh and I still think it's a horn.

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "*Sighs* *begging* I'm sorry!!! I was really depressed when I drew this! PLEASE forgive me!And it's NOT a horn... *glares*"

Why is she coverd in thorns?

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "Cuz... darkness is evil and doesn't want her to get away... so we make it as painful as possible cuz it's evil."

yay!! i’m not the only emo in the woods!!! very nice indeed. is the she ’symbolicly’ you or a character? love the thorns...

:-) Stephanie E. Riley replies: "Um... yeah... she’s the symbolic version of me and my feelings at the time. Glad you like the thorns... and I do like to think that everyone has their emo days."
