I Love the whole drawing, and to me...I not only see the picture as it is, but i also do not see the grain and baskets of fruit and Veg, I see a womans reproductive system inside your painting, with the baskets as the ovaries. If indeed that was purposeful well done!!! For it fits too perfectly, if it was accidental then your inner mind is verryyy creative indeed. no wonder your such a fantastic artist!

She doesn't look like an all-powerful, untouchable being whose experience is beyond our comprehension, but rather an embodiment of the human experience, with its beauty and anguish as well (we all know of Demeter's pain at her daughter's departure to underworld...) I like that she is connected with the earth, not floating in a cloud or even framed by plants but disconnected noneless, as I've seen other artists represent her. I don't think Demeter would ever be comfortable away from terra firma. Even while she weilds no lightning bolts, excudes no magical aura or any other theatrics, she does weild one of the most profound powers found in the world; creation. If you can't tell, Demeter is one of my favorites of the pantheon.
