Abhimanyu was a prince of the Lunar Dynasty.. he was a worthy successor to his father Arjun, the son of demigod Indra and his valor is unparalleled in the nnals of Indian history.. Abhimanyu was born at a time when his father's clan (Pandavas) was in confrontation with the evil clan of Kauravas.. When he was in his mother Subhadra was carrying him in her womb, his uncle Krishna would tell him stories about warfare and military tactics.. Miraculously, Abhi was imbibing all this knowledge even from within the womb, and thus he turned out to be crucial in breaking one of the most powerful formations of the Kaurav army called the Chakravyuha..

But as the stories of all great heroes go, Abhimanyu's story also took a turn.. when at the time of the Mahabharatta battle,  the top Kaurav military leaders saw a mere lad break into their strongest formation, they defied the code of righteous battle and pounced on him from all directions.. Even though he was surrounded by the greatest warriors this land has ever known, Abhi gave them a tough fight and only after hours of battle they could manage to chink his armor..

Abhimanyu fought like a lion and bested all those around him till their combined strength broke him down and they managed to behead him.. Arjun was livid with rage when he heard of his teenage son being killed at the hand of sasoned warriors in such a cowardly fashion and vowed not to take water or food till he could avenge Abhi's death! The battle of Mahabharat thus lasted for 18 days when all the Kaurav leaders were either killed or brought down to their knees..

Here i have used photoshop to put a picture of the Taj-mahal in the background taken by me a few years back on my trip to Agra and Delhi..

I like this one a lot; the composition is pretty & the background with the Taj-mahal makes it more gorgeous. The proportions of the prince are all correct! 1

you should colour him, he looks real enough to mistake him as a person really in the picture! XD
do you research this stuff before you make the pictures, or are these stories you have been told? either way, these are good stories. something that makes me jelous that i didn’t think of them. 8 meh ;D

11 Vineet Aggarwal replies: "lol well these are the stories from Hindu mythology... some i have been hearing since childhood like this one of Abhimanyu here.. others i have researched and found out 2 thanx a lot will find some time to color him soon!!"

Wonderful but sad story! very nice picture . The lovely Taj Mahal in the background- one of the places i have always wanted to see. I built a model of it as a boy, and know quite a bit about it(My wife Lynn and I are both Archeology buffs as well) But am delighted to know the story of this Heroic warrior.

22 Vineet Aggarwal replies: "Oh u did!! thats cool.. Its so gud that both u n Lynn share similar interests 2

Abhimanyu’s story always saddens me somehow.. it has that touch of tragedy and of unaccomplished potential that fill me with regret for this guy.. a prince of one of the most celebrated dynasty, the son of Arjun, the bravest pandav warrior, a beautiful wife, the support of Krishna on their side giving him the hope of a sure win.. and still all he got was a shameful death by warriors who were no match for him alone.. but then thats how life is i guess!! nobody gets everything here.."
