First of all, yes, I realize she's on lined paper...and I've caught a ton of flack for it. I scanned this out of a book of sketches that I have for the characters I play in my Marvel game. In any case, Vandal is my embodiment of what every woman should have; strength, beauty, loyalty and courage. She is the silent protector of her Queen (Angel/Fury) and the self-proclaimed bodyguard of the NEXUS team. An outcast, even among her own people, she found solace among the members of NEXUS, and has guarded them ever since.

One of my favorite characters to play, she gets alot of attention because of her 'fur', but deepdown under that 8 foot exterior, she's really kind. She's sort of a bodyguard to the others more of her own choice than by any orders she was given. Sorry about the lines :(

No comments yet?? You aren't being paid your due for these beautiful works, Sis! Don't feel too bad about it, I got alot of crap for my works on lined paper, too.

Hey! You work with what you've got 2 I took the scan directly from a notebook with her bio and pic in it (which explains the lines). Eventually, I'll redraw her, but until now, I like her just the way she is!

Awesome woman! I can certainly see why she has been the center of much interest!

Thanks! She's definately a favorite of mine. I'm glad other folks can appreciate her as much as I do 2

That is an impressive costume she wears, looks good on her! The cropped look of this pic gives a photo like impression, a captured moment in life, rather than a stale pose.

What a beautiful interpretation! Again, you've given me something to think about that I never noticed before 2 Thank you!!!

She is beautiful (and strong and noble). I love the way you drew the fur. By the way...you can probably remove the lines by using the 'selected color' tool in photoshop.

:-) Valarie Nicharico replies: "somewhere around here I have a copy with the lines removed....I THOUGHT I had uploaded it here...guess I was mistaken..."

I really like your picture. Some of my best artwork seems to end up on lined paper also. Don't worry about it.

Lined paper is actualy a good effect in this piece. If I were an art critic, I'd say it accentuates some skeletal function or something, but since I'm not, I'll stick to cool. DOn't remove the lines, I think they look better in this particular piece. Nice texturing on the fur costume, and I love the facemask.

1 Valarie Nicharico replies: "THANKS!! I've tried more than once to take the lines out and it just wasn't the same...So they stay, yup 1"
