My mentor once told me that when we died there was a moment in death where you reviewed all that you have been. I was imagining what it may be like for gods who have gone through that same process, with each new birth of recognition and each death of self-righteousness, from those who believe in them. Then I took it a bit to the extreme, while I was laying it out, and the idea from “The Indian in the Cupboard' popped into my head. So I tried to apply that here, where gods or goddesses sit and wait, locked away. In this setting I depicted The Stag, Morganna, Kali, Venus and her son Cupid, and finally Freyja and her cats. ((Unfortunatly I had to size down this picture, it is much larger than this, and the detail on the faces became a little blurred, esp. on Freyja...forgive this atrocity...;P)

*does first comment dance* can't believe there isn't a comment yet!!!!!!! that is beautiful work! ALL of your art!!! really, i am totally in awe and oh so jealous ^^
your absolutely awesome
and i LOVE the black and White thing you have going. sometimes black and white is so much more powerful than colors, ne? ^___^

:-) Jessica Voigt replies: "Thanks a lot...and I completely agree...sometimes I think color is over-rated...it is my goal to become a master at black and white...lol...anyway thanks again."

That is awsome! Really well put together.

Truelly divine bah bad pun2 but this is really amazing, i love the consept and the figures bring it all together. I see some of your zone47 style seeping though the barrier - the dress that venus wears had the little dots you use for metal, and the rest of the picture looks to be cast in some smooth metalic medium, almost as if they were little silver replicas of the gods, stored in this cupboard, tho idont know how to integrte that into the original consept.. Again beautiful work

This is so, I don't know, forlorn. It is beautiful, like all your art, and the slight nondescriptness of the figures really adds to the feeling of sadness and withdrawl.

ooh, nice. I love the idea. They all look wonderful.. I want to see the larger version, because I know there's detail I'm missing out on. ^_^ Great work!

Wow! I love this! Who is the many armed one? I have heard of every one but that goddess. Is this Freyja the Norse goddess? This picture is absolutely Mod's material. Have a great new year!

:-) Jessica Voigt replies: "Thanks for the many comments...I appreciate it...The one with the many arms is Kali, and Freyja is a norse goddess, her animal figure was the cat..."
