After looking at all the great centaurs in the 'Woods, I decided to do one of my own. I try to make my mythical creatures look as if they could really exist, and centaurs, however cool they are, are slightly improbable. However, I am pleased with the way this young one turned out. I imagine her being a golden chestnut with four white socks.

Also, it irritates me slightly when 'taurs are all covered in armour and stuff on their humanoid part, but their equine part is completely devoid of anything...So I covered mine with delicious details. Note the built-on hawk perch.

Pencil on computer printer paper.

I wonder how long she will carry around those dead fiish! They may start to smell after a bit...
I always figured the armor dichotomy to be because the centaur is either an archer or cavalry fighter, and either way the side facing the fighting needs the armor. In an infantry battle a centaur is distinctly disadvantaged if it stays in one place, because it has a long body it can’t protect well all at once, and even with armor there would be a lot of weak spots. I have seen centaurs with barding, but those seem rare.

:-) Lucy Bert replies: "She’ll probably eat them tonight, dunno, salt covers up pretty much anything.
I see your point about centaur armour. Perhaps they don’t fight much at all. The long body would get in the way of a lot of attacks...If I were a centaur I’d want some covering for 80 percent of my body, but that’s just me.
Maybe stomach armour would help out the centaurs? Or they could go to a good dressage instructor...Hey, that might make a good drawing! "

I like this centaur! She’s pretty! I love the hawk and all of them there other details on that there centaur. 1 Centaurs are one of the difficulties in drawing for me. I can’t stand them, but I love them so much! AHHH! *faints*101692212

:-) Lucy Bert replies: "I know!!!! They’re fun to draw but so difficult to make look right!!! the body gets too long, the body gets too short, the head is too big, the head is too small, how would this thing’s ribs work...AGGGHH!!! *pant pant* but i like them anyway, so what the heck. "

Haha, I love the hawk-perch! And her expression; she looks fierce^^ Centaur anatomy isn’t easy - don’t get me started on their spine or innards! But very good job; I’d love to see this in color! Or would you mind if I colored her?

:-) Lucy Bert replies: "Thank you so much! Glad you noticed the details. Sure, go ahead and colour her! I’d love to see what you’d do."

I love the idea of centaurs; yours is really cool. It kind of annoys me, too, when people disreguard the horse-half with the whole armor thing10
I also like the fact that you made this centaur female; you don’t see many centaurs that are both a female and a warrior, too. I don’t like those female centaurs that are portrayed as all sensual and stuff; your portrayal is much more preferable! 12

:-) Lucy Bert replies: "Yeah! I think that female centaurs would be able to do whatever they wish. It bothers me when they go without a top, too, it just doesn’t seem quite right. Also, with the armour on the horsey bit, if I were a ’taur, I’d want to protect the largest section of my body, holding my heart, 2nd pair of lungs, stomach and intestines.....but that’s just me. 12 Thanks so much!"

WHAT ARE THOSE?

:-) Lucy Bert replies: "It’s a flame-proof material. It’s actually quite toxic and, alas, is no longer used."
