  Taken from my blog:

"This last piece, SeaSky, was monumental in my life as an artist and writer. I had not picked up a pencil in over a year before I drew this picture. It was drawn with colored pencil my freshman year of university for an introductory art class. It came from somewhere deep within-- that part of yourself that resonates with creation. Prior to this, I had never drawn or painted anything like it. It was as though I had moved on to the next level without all of the training, trials and exercises... it just came into being.

When I look at this piece, I know without a doubt that I want to be a writer and illustrator. I want people to know about the fantastic places and characters that reside within my heart, not just in pictures, but in words.

I had never drawn a sunset or done a transparency before, it all seemed to happen on its own. When I drew this picture I knew I was capable of more.

Each of us has great potential residing within us, we simply have to choose to use it. "

Love the way you’ve combined the colours and the sinuous shapes. The ’flying’ whale pod is a nice touch too!

:-) Sarah WaterRaven Faver replies: "Thank you so much! It was just one of those pieces that kind of came together on its own. I wish I could do another one like it, lol.

The whale pod was most likely inspired by Fantastia 2000, but then again, I also loved art by Schimmel when I was a child 2 Whales in space and stuff. "
