SciFi and Fantasy Art The Beginning Days by Billy Mosig

This picture is based upon the description that Tolkien gives about the beginning days of Arda. When the Valar decended upon Arda, they modeled great works of stone and impressive mountains. Yahvanna gave birth to many living beings, including trees so tall their tops were crowned with clouds. Then Aüle built two lamps, upon pillars more tall than any mountain of that age. The lamps were filled with the light of Varda, and so, the world was lit in an endless day. It really is a short description at the beginning of the first chapter of the Quenta Silmarillion, but I find it is one of the most interesting sights that Tolkien makes me imagine.

7 Aug 2006	Man in Black	Loading... The sky is absolutely brilliant! The lighting that you've captured reminds me of my favorite time of the day to take pictures - the "golden moment" when the sun is about to go down and the world is bathed in it's glow for just a few seconds.
