This is a sketch I made several years ago. Back then, I still had an undefined idea for elves, so Luthien's appearence is echlectic, a little native american and victorian. I wanted to capture the specific moment when Luthien allows herself to be touched by Beren and becomes doomed. I wanted the drawing to be romantic but sorrowful as well. I never finished drawing beren, mostly because I never found the time to finish the drawing. I didn't really care, because this was only a sketch I was going to make a painting. I haven't made the painting yet..

It's really good, the only thing that I have a complaint about is the feet, they're too small.

I love this picture. I don't know why, but every time I look at it I find myself unable to take my eyes off it. The unfinished look of Beren made me see him as a ghost or memory that haunts Lúthien and brings about her doom.
I want to put this pic in a tour I'm making about Beren and Luthien, if you don't want it to be in the tour or if you have any questions please contact me.

the shadowing is great, but don't think the same of the anatomy, is not that good. Bus as I said, the shadows are terrific and also the ladie's dress. ^-^

Never in Arda what I imagined fore elves but I love it! I really like Victorian style clothing, and the headdresses are awesome. This would make an excellent style of cloathing for a movie set in an imaginary world!

:-) Billy Mosig replies: "I know, the dress doesn't look very traditional elvish. Today I have a very different idea of how elves should have dressed like (like the greeks), but it is still fun to see how weird my idea was hahaha."

DUDE! make it into a painting! NOW!
at least do it for me ^_^
and now seriously. you gotta make it a painting. it's beautiful. and so realistic. not like "oh, i'm going to draw two people who love eachother, with nice clothes" no, it's more like "i'm gonna draw two fabulous, realistic people, with beautiful and original clothing, looking like they really LOVE eachother, but are not allowed to, and really look like they're from a different race"-pic. it's COOL. and did i mention the great clothing before? <3 i love the victorian-alike dress, and the way Beren's dressed up. i can't give his clothing style a name, but it does remind me of the greek times, especially that thing on his head (forgot the name). you know, they spoil me with greek culture&language at school. i remember i asked my teacher about a similar head-thingy on a painting in my book, and he said it depicts a not-greek person when the painting depicts a greek happening. which now reminds me of beren being a human, not an elf, so actually he's a not-elf, foreign, blablabla @__@ damn it all fits eachother!
just to let you know.

make that painting. please.

Make the painting make the painting make the painting make the painting.....please
Love the picture it’s beautiful. The look is amazing and it really looks like they’re from two different cultures
I wish i could draw like that, but every single drawing i do which is meant to be a person or animal turns out too cartoony for me. 8 It’s the faces which troubles me. *Sulks*
