Here is a watecolour sketch I did for Vingilot, the legenday ship of Eärendil (in the final chapters of the Silmarillion). It is said that the last Silmaril rests on Eärendil's forehead, and he travels ths skies aboard Vingilot like a star. The vessel has greek influence.

*first comment dance* How beautiful! That's how I'd imagined the elven ships, slender and graceful.

OMG Beautiful!
thought it must be one of your paintings even before I saw your name. Your style is unmistakable!

1 Billy Mosig replies: "Did you really recognize it because of my style? Wow, I've never felt like I really had a personal style, that's wonderful, thank you. Thank you also for putting me on your favourites list."

This also actually reminds me of the sky ship in Ed Stewert and Chris Riddle's book the last of the sky Pirates! Very nice! I love the little flag atop the mast! I just love the word atop!

The ship's lines are very delicate and flowing, and they give it a "celestial" quality. Beautiful!

Wow, it does remind me of the Sky ships in the Edge Chronicles.......

Is it being manned at the time because if it is Earendil's (sp?) wife should be there somewhere. Since she was turned into a bird......

OMG! A boat from The Silmarillion! What's next someone is actually gonna draw a pic of Tuor and Idril?! I love it!

:-) Billy Mosig replies: "Yes, in fact a boat from the Silmarillion. I'll probably paint Tuor and Idril eventually, but on the short run, I'll probably paint Eärendil and Elwing first."
