This illustration was done for an adventure supplement in the role-playing magazine 'Warlock'. I wanted to create a 'Nosferatu'-style vampire rather than the more usual elegant Victorian nobleman. The intended dramatic foreshortening on the reaching hands didn't quite come off here, though I tried several versions. Oh well - can't win 'em all! I like the 'bat' shadow he's casting on the wall, though.

Pen & ink on cartridge paper. Original approx. 210mm x 270mm.

How could nobody have commented on this?! Insane people. *does her funky first comment dance* I'm a big fan of vampires but have not seen too many good drawings of them (even mine are bad). This one, however, has to be the best I've ever seen. And what makes it even better is the fact that it isn't your typical attractive vamp. Brilliant job on the details! And the shadow on the wall is an awesome concept. 2

EEEK *jumps*

my cpu takes time to upload the pic to the screen when I saw the Vampire I was like hmm Vampire- (romantic dark good looking blood sucking living in pleasent candlelit manor Vampire)

this wasnt the Vamp I expected... (though he does look a lot like the nosferatu in Salems Lot)

3 Jon Dixon replies: "Yeah, I like the more bestial idea of the vampire. I think the romantic, 'gothic' image has been a little over-done (*coff*AnneRice*coff*). After all, these are monsters we're talking about!"

Very demonic! I like it! You're not afraid to show that innate fear that's in all of us.

Love it!!!It looks like something Conan would encounter while looting an ancient tomb...

3 Jon Dixon replies: "Cool. Conan versus a vampire. Now there's an idea for a pic..."

I think the foreshortening turned out rather well on his left hand though it does seem a bit off one his right. Excellent work on the contrast between lights and darks. this really is and engaging pic.

3 Jon Dixon replies: "Thank you, Clover!"
