Excerpt from "The Journal of Tarquin E.Q. Elderflower: Elven Adventurer"

"After a long search we discovered the path to the said city and, not wishing to waste any more time, decided against further rounds of drinks from our erstwhile hosts.
We started out early one morning amid much ado, erupting from that dammed fool Cecil letting our hosts know of our destination. I have never seen a fellow go so white in the face. He kept stammering on about not wishing us any harm, 'Please sirs don't go'', he begged.
'Don't be such a fool', I curtly dismissed him. I swear the fellow followed us half way down the path, sweating and rubbing his big greasy hands together.  Not to be deterred from our explorations we walked faster, our trusty hounds by our sides, purposefully off into the early morning dew.
By mid afternoon Cecil called a halt as he was parched (and so was I. I can avouch for that fact).  After a light luncheon we continued towards our goal.
My hound, Brutus, was the first to behold the magnificent ruin of a city and came bounding up to me his tongue lolling and panting as if he had just ran several miles. But the playful old chap was just having a game with an old beggar man (and beggar he was) whose stench preceded him by several yards. (Thank the goddess I keep a scented handkerchief in my pocket for occasions such as this)
On asking us where we were bound Cecil (The fool) told him of our intentions which gained a look of instant disapproval from.... Charlie (most probably not his name but for want of a better one it will do).
'You young sirs would not be wantin' to go there. Not after what your type did. Oh no I wouldn't go there if I were you.'
'Well sir,' I said lifting myself up to full height, 'you are not us and we, thank the goddess are not you. So we will damn well do as we please!' I didn't like using such words on one such as him, but his manner (not to mention the smell) urked me somewhat.
And anyway what did he mean 'Your Type'? as far as I could see he had a little Elf in him too judging from those ears of his.
Suffice to say we parted company not on the best of terms."

There’s some very nice painting in this work. I especially like the sky and trees. Well done!

:-) Dave Cripps replies: "Thanks. I did intend to give it a nice quiet atmosphere hiding the horror beneath."

20 Dave Cripps replies: "An old abandoned Elven city. Why it was abandoned can be explained in the Horned Hunter pic. You really must stay away sir it’s just not healthy to go poking about in old ruins. Especially haunted ones......"
