| 26 Jun 2002 | Ms. B | Adam,
It doesn't look as though you've added anything in a while, and you really should. Summertime is optimum creative time, so don't squander it on stuff you won't remember tomorrow.
To comment on your essay in class: you have learned an important lesson that I didn't learn until college. The world is full of the same types of people, so please don't think your high school is unique in playing host to, what did you call them? Empty shells? Even YOU are part of a type-set group, whether or not you realize it. Try your best to be just YOU...college and the real world hold more of the same, but it's not all that bad. 75% of what you learn in school has absolutely nothing to do with what you learn in class. It's true (college, the ratio is about 90 to 10).
That said, your English classes over the next 3 years WILL be very important to you in your career as a writer. Not only will you study some great works of literature, but you'll be given an opportunity to learn from the masters and pick up some helpful grammar hints. Yes, you may think that not knowing the direct object of a sentence is not that big of a deal; when you're a writer, it IS a big deal. Your audience expects excellence, and it is up to you to give it to them. (I will not pick apart the grammar of your work now, but consider this an open invitation to email me with any questions you may have regarding your work.)
I hope you continue to write and that you have a terrific summer, and that you'll visit (although definitely not your style) M224 next year.
Take care, Ms. B | |
| 18 Aug 2002 | Eryn Wilkens | Sorry to pry, but are ypu going through spasms of questioning your mental health? don't laugh i'm serious! just some advice from someone who's been there, don't delude yourself into thinking you are someone, delude yourself into KNOWING you are. I can't stress how hard it is to get yourself out of the 'i'm worthless' phase. It took me over 5 years. So...if you need someone to just tell everything to, i'm here. you may not know me but we are probably closer than you think. Please, e-mail me. Even if it's just to tell me this comment was wrong. Love and blessings, -Eryn Adam Weber replies: "uuh yes uh....hehe....*backs slowley away*...." | |
