One of my old felt-tip and rapidograph pen works, long thought lost, and rediscovered on a slide. The Plumed Serpent of Mayan and Aztec lore, Kulkulkan, or Qutezalcoatl, as you prefer. Here,a priest invokes the Plumed Serpent, while the Eagle does hold the tail, as in legend. 18X24.

It looks like a mosaic. Very cool, and probably painstaking!

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "Thank you Anna, well, yes, it did take a bit of time to do. Fun though.."

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "I am grateful for your appreciation, Chantel...."

I don't know anything about Mayans and Aztecs, so I won't write a dissertation on that. 2 But I love this picture! It's so unusual and what it really reminds me of is a painting on a cave wall. The texture is amazing! Your work just really blows me away!

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "You are quite a commenter, good harper. I am most glad you enjoy my work..."

AHH!! Where was I when you got his Moderator's choice!! *cries because she never got to comment soon enough* I love the dragon thingy! ^_^ He looks wicked. *grins* And the whole pic has a really nice atmosphere to it! *thumbs up*

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "And pardon me, dear Lori, for missing this comment of yours for so long. Thank you for your continued visits!"

Wow, wish I had the patience to draw something like that. How long did it take exactly...or maybe you don't remember. Anyways...not being a huge brain on Mayans and Aztecs...are those traditional colors, or were they just plucked from mid air?

Luverly job!

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "My thanks, Megs, for the nice comments. Hmmm, I worked on it for a couple months, as memory serves(what were we talking about?-heh), and the colors of the land itself are close enough, the figures garb is based on a painting by another artist(whose name sadly escapes me) I saw ages ago, of an aztec warrior, though the colors are mine own on him."

Hey i just love your pic about the plumed serpent. I think that it just cool how you don it. I think , being of Aztec Indian ancestry myself, that i can just see him as the legend some time depicts him to be. I really think you did a very good job on this picture.

:-) William A. Clayton replies: "My thanks, Soledad, for the good review. I can think of no higher praise than from those of Meso-American Ancestry."
4 Dec 2007:-) Justin A 'Merlion Emrys' Williams
The sheer size of the being depicted here is really pretty scary...I can’t help but be reminded of my conception of Leviathan.

The swirling indistinct background is, I think, a good fit for such an archtypal supernatural being. It could represent many serpentine entities, and I think thats a good thing.

60 William A. Clayton replies: "Thanks, Justin. Of course, with your M. E. nickname, you should be in a unique position to appreciate dragons and plumed serpents."
