| 11 Jan 2003 | Michael Sheridan | Loading...That is FANTASTIC! though I think the sword could have been a bit longer, but no matter. I have rarely seem Gandalf displayed with so much strength and magnificence. | |
| 4 Mar 2003 | Maria Ringsevjen | Loading...The pencilwork is great, you've shaded him so he seems alive, not flat, which I think is a great accomplishment =) (I'm trying to myself, but I don't think I got it right yet...) One thing: His sword should be longer. I know opinions differ from person to person when it comes to book-characters and how you view them, but the sword doesn't fit the rest of him, methinks. Maybe it's the hilt that does it. A hilt that size requires a longer blade (though I'm not exactly an expert , so I would suggest either reduce the size of the hilt, or make the blade longer. But anyway, this is a great sketch! Keep up the good work! =) and please feel free to visit my gallery... | |
| 17 May 2003 | Anonymous | Loading...OMG, I love Tolkien and his books. I also love the movies soo much! I think its great that you did this Gandalf the Grey sketch...Also, if you did this before the movie came out then OMG HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE GANDALF IN THE MOVIE!!! If not, then he's still excellent!! | |
| 24 Feb 2004 | Franci | Loading...He looks younger than he was in the movies. He looks quicker, and more resourseful, like someone you could trust in a tight spot. Nice one! | |
| 13 Jun 2004 | Penguins Moo | Loading...Gandalf...sniff. Poor Gandalf. lol The sword looks stubby. William J Kenney replies: "Ya think? Well, maybe.... What is the right length for a sword after all? " | |
| 13 Jun 2004 | Hannah R. Filmore | Loading...lol, Gandalf the Grey as drawn by 'Grey'. I love everything but his clothing, the folds are just a bit too.. fake really. William J Kenney replies: "Sorry, he was a little busy when I asked him to pose what with the War of the Ring and all...lol" | |
| 19 Jun 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...Well, I think it's perfect. It is, as you said, your own, which is always better (with the possible exception of pictures involving Boromir's sleeves) than a vision from someone else's head. And I do wish people would not go on about the sword so. It wasn't what I was expecting but I love it for that. | |
| 12 Oct 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...This would be a perfect drawing if u fixed his mid section a little the folds in his robe are a little fake but excellent face | |
| 20 Mar 2006 | Believer | Loading...I love the swishyness of his cloak You captured him turning perfectly. Love it | |
| 24 Dec 2006 | Tabula Rasa | Loading...Escellent. He's got this charging sort of stance, sort of hunkering down and measuring his target. I don't see that very often, mostly people just draw elves sticking out their swords in 'noble' pose without thinking about what people usually do when using worka sword. However, just one ting, his grip on the sword looks a little odd. I don't know how to describe it, I just think that it would be very difficult for hm to use his sword if he held it that way.
Anyway, great work! | |
